July 1-3, 2011 Searcy, AR
James Barnes; pictured here on Spinnemfast Win Cash, was the biggest cash winner at the 2nd Annual Art Atwood Memorial in Searcy, AR. The Shrevepot, LA cowboy pocketed a total of $4,167.19 in route to claiming the Adult High Money, Overall High Money, and 1D Average buckles for the weekend. Barnes also made his move to the top of the 2011 High Money standings with a total of $5,696.79 earned in just three races. Barnes piloted Futurity stand out Cash Not Corona, owned by Susan & Hal Gibson, to the win on Saturday and then returned on her paternal half brother, Spinnemfast Win Cash to win Sunday's race. And when the dust settled, the two bay horses ended up first and second in the Average. Barnes says both horses are very unique to ride, "Spinner can be a handful out back but usually always runs twice as hard the second go than he does the first. Corona; she wants to do things her way, but she can make a mistake and still set the clock on fire. I'm truly blessed to have the opportunity to ride these great horses, and I give God all the praise and glory for all my accomplishments in the arena and in life."
May 7-8, 2011 Starkville, MS
Corey Breedlove of Nashville, TN blazed a trail to $3,016.15 in earnings at the Mississippi Horse Park during the 2nd race of the 2011 Lucky Dog Series. Although Breedlove picked up checks on four different horses over the weekend, one horse's earnings were a little more meaningful. Cash In On Perks aka "Scat"; pictured here, fractured his pelvis at the 2009 NBHA Youth World. Complications from the injury threatened his life and vets never expected him to run again. Scat overcame the odds and has competed a few times off and on over the last year but was still a little off. Starkville was Scat's first race in over six months and he proved he still has what it takes carrying Breedlove to the 1D Average Championship and helping to secure his Adult and Overall High Money wins. "We were very excited for him to be able to run as well a he did his first weekend back," said Breedlove. "It has taken two long years and we know he will never dominate like he did before but we are blessed that he even lived and that we get to see him run again! He will be hauled on a very limited bases as long as he is sound and then he has a home for life."

May 14-15, 2011 Fort Smith, AR
Beebe, AR cowboy Darren Boyce raked in the dough at the Gayla Milam Memorial race in Fort Smith, AR. Boyce cashed checks worth $2,0147.50 on his way to picking up the Adult High Money, Overall High Money, and 3D Average buckles for the weekend. Boyce is pictured here on Sucha Diamonds Image.

March 11-13, 2011 Texarkana, AR
Jolene Montgomery of Purdon, TX left the Texarkana Lucky Dog race with a pocket full of cash and more buckles to add to her trophy case. Including Futurity earnings Montgomery earned a total of $6,641.15, the Adult High Money, Overall High Money, and 1D Average Championships for the weekend. $2,630.42 of that total can be credited to Famous Ed which Montgomery was "tuning up" for owner Madison Montchal at the time. The duo dominated the field to win both Saturday and Sunday's races as well as the Average. "He worked awesome," Montgomery said. "He's a wonderful horse, one of the nicest horses I've ever sat on. He's a superior athelete. Ones like him are probably one in a million. Not every horse is capable of what he is."
March 11-13, 2011 Texarkana, AR
1st Annual Lucky Dog BFA Futurity

Bluff Dale, TX cowgirl Lacey Donegan and her 4-year-old mount BA Tee It Up Ta Fame aka "Gabby"; owned by Donegan's mother, Kathy Donegan, were crowned the Champions of the first ever Lucky Dog Futurity held in Texarkana, AR. The duo clocked the fastest time of the Futurity in the first go with a 15.030 beating out Cody Bauserman and Niki Black; owned by JR Follin of Sallisaw, OK, by only seven thousandths of a second. The pair followed their go round win up with a 15.225 good enough for fourth in the second go and their average time of 30.255 edged out Jolene Montgomery and Cash Dealins; owned by Jud Little, by less than three tenths of a second on two runs bringing their Futurity earnings total to $3,208.36.

After a fall at the Lance Graves Pro Classic Futurity the month before, Donegan was unsure of how the mare would perform at her first event since. "I didn't expect a whole lot because I didn't know what she'd do," Donegan said. "After her fall, I figured she might be a little iffy, but she wasn't. She got really gritty. I was pretty impressed she could come back and do what she did. Most colts won't do that for you."

The second go round of the Futurity was captured by Mark Bugni aboard 4-year-old palomino gelding BB French Moon Bug owned by Tom & Linda Kay of Lawrence, KS with a time of 15.162. The pair finished just out of the money in the first go with a 15.452, but their average time of 30.614 was good enough to earn them a fourth place check in the Average bringing their Futurity total to $1,944.06.

Cheryle Laws of Forrest City, AR; pictured here on her main mount Gem Dandy Bullion, took home the 2010 High Money saddle after accumulating $3,614.08 over the course of the five race series.
